ModeMate wasn’t conceived of in a corporate boardroom or a warehouse. It comes from the mind of a mother. Mine.

I’m Jackie. The proud (and picky) Mama Bear of a brood of three, all under five years old.

Like all parents, I want to give my babies the best, right down to the clothes on their backs. And like all parents, I quickly learned that the struggle to find quality clothing is real.

It’s not that there’s too little choice. It’s that there’s too much. The big box stores and major online retailers all have endless options for baby and kid clothing to choose from. Mostly uninspired. Mostly less-than-spectacular quality. Mostly not meant to last.

But the truth is, fast fashion and little ones just don’t mix.

Because babies and kids need clothing that can move, play, and grow with them. Clothing that can stand up to rowdy playtimes and heavy duty wash cycles. And because being a parent is hectic enough without having to replace worn-out wardrobes every few months. Not to mention the guilt of knowing those barely worn items will likely end up in landfills.

That’s what inspired the vision behind ModeMate: wanting better options for my own babies and for little ones everywhere.

With that vision in place, the rest came together quickly. Crappy quality was out. So was anything environmentally questionable. The materials had to be mother-approved and Mother Nature-approved. So, naturally, the material of choice was organic cotton. Sourced ethically and made to last.

Then, the designs. Given the mess and mayhem of parenthood, I wanted images that would bring a little serenity to the constant chaos. Cute, playful designs that had a hand-drawn quality to them. Dreamy watercolors in calming color palettes. The kind of designs that spark the imagination. In other words, the polar opposite of soulless, machine-made precision. Because if ModeMate stands for anything, it’s that things don’t have to be “perfect” in order to be perfect.

The result is curated collections of thoughtfully made clothing that are a joy to wear, give, and make memories in. Designed by parents, for parents, and for anyone who wants to shower the little ones in their lives with love.
